2 Service Flying Training School (ITS), RNZAF (Woodbourne)
Harvard II NZ967 - seen at 1315 to begin a steep diving turn to starboard with engine at high-power.  At under a 100 feet, while attempting to flatten-out, the starboard wind folded back and detached, causing NZ967 to dive into the ground in an almost inverted position in Omaka Valley, 8 miles SW of the airfield.  The pilots are buried at Taradale and Wanganui, respectively.
