Charles Jowers was a member of a local farming family in the Pahiatua district in the Kaitawa and Ballance areas. His parents  Charles Henry and Agnes Oscaria Jowers retired to Woodville and died aged 90 (1957) and 93 (1961) respectively.  They are also buried at Mangatainoka Cemetery as is his sister and brother William Henry Jowers
