"Thu 12 Feb 1942, NEW ZEALAND, Flying practice
1 Squadron, RNZAF (Whenuapai; detachment at Waipapakauri) Vildebeest IV NZ125 - took off from Waipapakauri at 1030 piloted by Sgt J M Worden, but stalled from 20 feet almost immediately and crashed, bursting into flames.  The pilot and one of his passengers were seriously injured, the second passenger, AC2 K I Curtis, only slightly so.  All three were admitted to Kaitaia hospital but one of the airmen died later in the day and is buried at Auckland.
